About the Conference

Linux Vacation / Eastern Europe is being organised in Belarus since 2005. The conference offers a place for free software enthusiasts and professionals to meet and exchange ideas in a friendly, informal setting. It is the biggest FOSS event in Belarus.

The LVEE conference traditionally takes place in the end of June — beginning of July.
Starting from 2011, LVEE Winter complements the usual summer conference.

LVEE is organised by the Minsk Linux Users Group with the help of the active members of the open source community from around the country. The conference’s official languages are Russian, Belarusian and English.

The conference format includes oral presentations and lightning talks, round table and panel discussions, workshops, and hacking sprints.

Tasks of the Conference are to give participants the ability of the experience exchange, to organize discussions on most urgent evolution directions and tendencies in the branch and calculated practical knowledge. Meeting is aimed to help in setting necessary contacts, providing development to the ideas, acquiring support of the open source community.

The conference covers a wide range of platforms – from workstations and servers, including virtualisation-based ones, to embedded systems and mobile devices. The set of the topics traditionally includes:

  • design, development and testing of free software,
  • system administration,
  • training specialists in free software technologies,
  • adoption and integration of open source solutions,
  • free software technologies in business solutions, and corporate and governmental IT systems,
  • licensing, legal and policy issues.

We welcome talks on any other free software-related topics.

The official languages of the conference are Russian, Belarusian and English.

The abstracts will be put on-line before the conference, with multimedia materials (slides and video of presentations) following later on. The printed proceedings of both winter and summer conferences will be published before the summer conference begins.

This year LVEE will take place online, on 27—30 August 2020.

Participation in LVEE 2020 Online Edition is free.
