Odessa Summer FOSS Fest 2011

Second international summer Fest of FOSS users & developers will be held in Odessa at July 28-31.
Odessa Summer FOSS Fest is organized by our information partner, [Root@UA]Media group. The “Odessa” climbing club on the Black sea coast will be the place of the event tent camp, as it was a year before.
Celebrating the System Administrator Day and free rest near the sea provides the traditional part, while news of the season are RootUA Hackaton, IPv6 demo-zone as far as paintball and climbing tournaments. Evenings are devoted to technical presentations, discussing FOSS topics near fire, eating shashlik and a lot more.
RootUA Hackaton is a 24-hour marathon of system administrators, participating as a team or single person. The aim is to imagine and implement working project on related topic:
- writing scripts to automatize some tasks or monitoring;
- writing configuration files, hooks/hacks/patches or new plugins for already-operating servers to improve or widen their capabilities or target server for some non-standard task;
- designing and setting up networks in virtual environment. E.g. for Wi-Fi, to achieve fixed minimum of signal for given terrain area, or to set up some large network with routers and other nodes…
- anything else.
The project should be non-standard and interesting. Winners decided by voting will receive interesting prizes. The place is connected to Internet, so participants are encouraged not forgetting to take their notebooks with them to take part in Hackaton.
Organization fee is 300 UAH (~ $38) for one person (should be payed before event or at its beginnig to cover the rent of the territory, welcome party, etc.
